I used to think that maybe you loved me
It was the best time I can remember
I could reach you no matter how far
There was a silent pact of trust
I never could admit
Do you remember what happened here?
It was the purest moment
The first time I ever felt connected to anything
We have been too far now
To bend the truth
I've waited here for you
Your words in my memory
Are like music to me
You're the only way to me
You reach in and touch my soul
Deep inside, I love you best
The way you wanted it to be
Put faith in what you believe in
Even if you cannot hear my voice
Close your eyes and sing to me
I love you like the million times
I’ve spoken your name
Love me like the laughter
And the kissed back tears
I don't want to run
Promise not to stop when I say when
Just overwhelm me
One of this week's prompts was "A Story Of Love". This story is composed of lyrics from Coldplay, Tired Pony, Katrina and the Waves, Phil Collins, GNR, Foo Fighters, and Snow Patrol

Beautiful arrangement! It amazes me how writers can write so many songs without duplicating each other, how so many songs say just you are feeling or going through.
ReplyDeleteLove the look of your blog! Thanks for stopping by - from Mama Kat's
"We have been too far now
ReplyDeleteTo bend the truth"
This line really stuck out. The depth of feeling in this was amazing. I'm so glad I stopped by.
"The silent pact of trust." "Your words in my memory are like music to me" *sigh* And music is the connecting idea in this. Wonderfully put together...

Awesome idea to take song lyrics and mold them to fit...creative and moving!
ReplyDeleteThat's really gorgeous! I never thought of doing that.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love your take on this! So clever!
ReplyDeleteVery creative! Great job.
ReplyDeleteLove. LOVE this. Music is so powerful and I love how you intertwined so many songs. This is brilliant.

ReplyDeleteStopping by from Red Dress Club.
That was great, so very sweet.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is a challenging prompt. I liked the poem and I'm pretty amazed that it's a collage of lyrics. You did a great job:~)
ReplyDeleteI loved every word, but this verse somehow really touched me:
"Put faith in what you believe in
Even if you cannot hear my voice
Close your eyes and sing to me"
Great job:~)
Love what you did with this.
ReplyDeleteWhat great music you've made from so many different songs. You've melded, molded, and made a heart beat. :>
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, sad, and touching. I like what you did. I'm impressed with how you came up with one song from different songs. That must have been quite a challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. I felt badly that it was not an original work, but it does show my creativity. And like it is for many people, music speaks for me.
ReplyDeleteWith lyrics like this to work with, choosing the songs was easy. I had too many songs and probably another poem's worth of great epic, intense lines. I actually cut the line I was going to use from "Till Kingdom Come" by Coldplay, I realized later. The arranging is what took the time.
I get the impression that several lines really impacted some of you, so here are the lyrics matched with the songs and artists:
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
"I used to think maybe you loved me"
Think About You - Guns N Roses
"It was the best time I can remember"
"Deep inside I love you best"
Two Hearts - Phil Collins
"put faith in what you believe in"
"can reach you no matter how far"
You Touched My Heart - Phil Collins
"you reached in and touched my soul"
I Finally Love This Town - Tired Pony
"we have been too far now to bend the truth"
"do you remember what happened here?"
"It was the purest moment"
Everlong - Foo Fighters
"the way you wanted it to be"
"promise not to stop when I say when"
"I've waited here for you"
Run - Snow Patrol
"even if you cannot hear my voice"
In My Arms - Snow Patrol
"silent pact of trust I never could admit"
"and sing to me"
Set The Fire To The Third Bar - Snow Patrol
"Your words in my memory are like music to me"
What If This Storm Ends - Snow Patrol
"I don't want to run, just overwhelm me"
Make This Go On Forever - Snow Patrol
"the first time that I felt connected to anything"
Engines - Snow Patrol
"I love you like the million times I.."
"Love me like the laughter and the kissed back tears"
Just Say Yes - Snow Patrol
"You're the only way to me"
So creative! I've never seen anything like this!
ReplyDeleteWow. How great. Wat a neat way to create a poem.
